LXXIX Graduation of the Titanium Class 2024 from Zamorano: A Milestone in Global Agricultural Education

In a ceremony filled with emotion and pride, Zamorano celebrated the graduation of its LXXIX Promotion, the Titanium Class of 2024, in an event that highlighted the formation of 231 new professionals from 18 different countries: Belize, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and the Dominican Republic.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by the Rector of Zamorano, Sergio Rodríguez Royo, who welcomed the graduates, their families, and all guests. Also present was Erik Peterson, President of the Board of Trustees, who congratulated the graduates on achieving this significant academic milestone, as well as Dr. Ana Maier, Vice President and Academic Dean.

The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Dr. José Perdomo, who delivered an emotional speech on the importance of education and the social commitment of new professionals. Perdomo emphasized the impact that each graduate will have in their communities and in the agricultural world, highlighting their role as leaders in addressing global challenges in the agricultural sector.

The directors of the various degree programs, Victoria Cortés, Adela Acosta, Celia Trejo, and Raúl Soto, presented the degrees to each student.

During the ceremony, several awards were presented to outstanding students, including recognition for the best student in the Learning-by-doing program, awards for the highest academic average by degree program, and the award for the Best Student of the Class of 2024.

Additionally, the new professionals took the traditional oath administered by Ever Hernández, President of AGEAP Internacional, who encouraged them to pursue their dreams and contribute to the sustainable development of their countries and the world.

With the graduation of this class, Zamorano reaffirms its commitment to training highly skilled professionals, prepared to face global challenges in agriculture, sustainability, and food security.

On Monday, March 3rd, 2025, Zamorano had the privilege of hosting Mr. Benigno Trueba, Executive Vice President of the Consorcio Azucarero de Empresas Industriales (CAEI), along with Mr. Héctor León, CAEI’s Director of Human Resources, for a strategic visit. During this meeting, a Memorandum of (MOU) was signed between both institutions, strengthening a partnership aimed at enhancing agricultural education, productive projects, and innovative research in Honduras and the surrounding region.

Danlí, Honduras – As part of their integrative course, the 2024 Agribusiness Master's cohort from Zamorano University recently visited HATSA, Honduras American Tabaco S.A., in Danlí, Honduras. The group, made up of 14 students from Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Ecuador, had the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the tobacco production process, from cultivation to industrial processing.
