Zamorano takes a step toward digital transformation with the new Student Information System (SIS)

Zamorano, a leading institution in agricultural education and sustainable development in Honduras and Latin America, has chosen the Banner solution, part of the Ellucian SaaS platform, to modernize its technological operations and enhance both administrative and academic management. This move positions Zamorano at the forefront of digital transformation in higher education in Central America, improving educational experience for both students and faculty.

The implementation of Banner, a cloud-based Student Information System (SIS), will streamline administrative processes, providing real-time access to critical information, which will enable quicker and more accurate decision-making. Zamorano joins over 2,000 global institutions already leveraging the Ellucian SaaS platform to increase operational efficiency and support student success.

“The adoption of Banner SaaS is a crucial step in our technological modernization process,” said Sergio Rodríguez, President of Zamorano. “This system will allow us to integrate our academic and student operations in a more agile and centralized way, helping us keep the university at the cutting edge of technology without overloading our resources. It will also strengthen our data-driven governance, enhancing both the administrative and academic experience for our students.”

Herbert Gaekel, Zamorano's Vice President of Operations and Finance, emphasized that the new system will streamline account management and provide real-time financial data. “Integrating up-to-date data will improve decision-making, and improvements in reporting and analytics will align our processes with the institution’s strategic goals,” he added.

The implementation of this innovative system is also in line with Zamorano’s commitment to the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, enhancing the quality of education, promoting inclusion, and strengthening workforce readiness in the region. Additionally, the new SIS aligns with emerging trends in higher education, such as curricular flexibility and competency-based learning.

Ana Maier, Vice President and Academic Dean at Zamorano, noted that the platform will make critical data more accessible, improving transparency and academic tracking. “These solutions not only streamline our administrative processes but also enhance our educational offerings, allowing for a more holistic approach to training the leaders who will positively impact their communities.”

Diana Baquedano, Zamorano's Director of Technology, added that the platform's integration capabilities and scalability will allow for the seamless addition of new tools, significantly improving the institution's ability to adapt to future educational challenges.

“Zamorano’s model shows the transformative power of hands-on education, and its investment in cutting-edge technology is ultimately an investment in its students,” said Laura Ipsen, President and CEO of Ellucian.
